Timeless design with thought-provoking statements becomes “Beauty with a Thought.” For 30 years, Efva’s designs have touched people around the world with their ingenuity and powerful messages; pieces from the earliest years are still worn and cherished today. Discover the full story here.

One of the first pieces Efva designed was Homo Sapiens, which became the starting point of an entire Attling jewellery universe. Homo Sapiens means “the thinking human” in Latin. Madonna embraced its message—that we should be free to love whom we choose—and thirty years on, its meaning remains just as relevant. >>

Timeless design with thought-provoking statements becomes “Beauty with a Thought.” Tears is an early design—where form meets an idea. Efva also calls Tears “Happy Tears”, as tears are not only ones of sorrow, but also of joy…>>

The name Ring Chain came from an Elvis song: “Won’t you wear my ring around your neck.” The result is a clean, timeless design that has become a classic. >>

After many years as an eyewear designer, Efva still sees it as a great challenge. “Designing for two eyes and a nose can feel limiting in my creative process. I tend to add a piece of jewellery from my collections—frames that can enhance your personality.”

“One of the first custom orders I received was to create a one-carat wedding ring in white gold. I named it The Wedding Ring, and the diamond had a smooth setting—gentle on fabrics. A year or so later, I made the same ring for myself, as a pat on the shoulder for having worked so hard.” — Efva

One of the most beloved collections over the years. Inspired by a rose Efva has had for many years—Blue Moon. The flowing form of the piece appears substantial, yet is light to wear. One of Efva’s favourites. >>

Efva’s first fine jewellery ring began with a turquoise aquamarine, over which she placed a bridge of white gold and diamonds—like a band across the stone. It was given the name Bend Over, with a playful wink. To this day, it remains a dream ring for many women. >>

Angels was created after the tsunami disaster, in collaboration with the Red Cross. “In the tsunami, so many children lost their lives”—the idea came from the small angel wings children wear when they dress up. So many lives were lost in the catastrophe. To be able to give back and help people in need feels only natural. —Efva >>

Finding one’s counterpart to become a whole is the idea behind Twosome. One ring is round, the other angular. It reflects relationships where differences are allowed to exist and complement one another. The message is captured in the inscription Amor Vincit Omnia—love conquers all. >>

Music has always been a part of Efva’s life, so being commissioned to design the Grammis felt like an honour. A natural meeting of two worlds she has long moved between—design and music. The result was a glass sculpture with piano keys inspired by the world of music, topped with a floating platinum star for all the star winners.

In the prestigious design collaboration with ABSOLUT, Efva was given free rein and played with the letter A—for Absolut and Attling. The result was a glass with the word SKÅL at its base and a drop-shaped stopper, both in 925 silver, featuring a twisted A motif.

The first collection for Orrefors was the champagne glass Amor Vincit Omnia—“love conquers all”. When it proved impossible to place a silver ring inside the glass, as glass has a higher melting point than silver, Efva instead set a silver ring around the stem, engraved with AVO. It quickly became a cherished wedding gift and the starting point of a long collaboration.

At the Guldknappen awards in 2014, Efva became the first designer to win the newly established Accessory category—an historic recognition of her work as a jewellery designer. The award affirmed that her design and expression had influenced and inspired far beyond the jewellery scene. The prize itself—an 18-carat gold button—had been created by her mentor, Bengt Liljedahl. The circle was complete.

It was as early as 2004 that the first watch was designed, named My First. But it was not the last—an entire watch collection followed in 2010. The watch Time Will Come consisted of twelve letters, and it was more luck than judgement that it turned out to be the perfect number, as I wanted letters on the dial instead of numerals, says Efva.

After a chance meeting with Yoko Ono in New York, an idea was sparked. As Efva had previously created Imagine Peace jewellery, she sent the pieces to Yoko, and shortly thereafter a collaboration began on the Imagine Peace collection—Lennon’s tribute to the song Imagine and its enduring call for hope and compassion. As part of the collaboration, Yoko Ono chose for a portion of the proceeds to be donated to Doctors Without Borders.

The Take No Shit collection, created to inspire strength and the courage to stand up for oneself—where every piece sold contributes to BRIS and their vital work. >>

The ultimate statement piece—so clearly expressing what Efva wants to convey. “I’ve got balls,” you might think, with a playful wink: I’ve got this…I’m brave. It’s no wonder it has been worn by so many strong, confident personalities, including Oprah Winfrey and many others. A true power piece. >>

Pride and support for human rights. Rainbow Freedom was inspired by Emma Green’s rainbow-coloured nails during the Moscow Olympics, which were banned. The names of the rainbow’s colours are stamped into the piece, and the message is: You can try to take my colours, but you can never take my pride. >>

Efva stepped into the world of scent with her seven perfumes, created in collaboration with the renowned fragrance house Robertet, known for its natural raw materials and for having developed brands such as Byredo. Efva’s perfume bottles, inspired by a seal she found at a flea market, are named after different jewellery pieces and feature matching stoppers shaped like a piece of jewellery.

Efva was commissioned to design a special statuette for one of the world’s most prestigious music awards—the Polar Music Prize. “I thought of our beautiful mountains in frosted and clear glass, and between the peaks sits a crown in silver,” Efva explains. It weighs approximately 1.2 kilos and is presented by the King to individuals or groups who have made a significant impact on the world of music.

Ahead of the opening of the ABBA Museum, it was time to take on a playful brief—to interpret some of the group’s song titles. Take a Chance on Me and Knowing Me, Knowing You became bracelets and necklaces, where each element reflects both the original song and something new to wear. A tribute to Swedish music history, interpreted in silver.

Efva’s first musical love was The Beatles. Selected titles became a jewellery collection—Here Comes the Sun, Two of Us, and Let It Be. Her love for The Beatles now lives on in silver and gold. >>

Some collaborations are simply impossible to turn down. Designing an award for Queen Silvia’s organisation, Childhood, was one such commission. Efva chose to create a silver pin featuring a semi-precious Lapis Lazuli as its centrepiece. The stone comes from Brazil—a reference to the Queen’s roots there.

From her very first jewellery collection, Efva began designing engagement and wedding rings. She later went on to create a collection of bridal gowns. Being named Wedding Designer of the Year became a recognition of her work as a bridal designer.

It was the fifteenth consecutive year that the Swedish Cancer Society carried out the Pink Ribbon campaign, and Efva chose to contribute to its ever-important research. With a sense of strength and a forward-looking spirit, the message became one of hope—Beat It, borrowed from Michael Jackson’s song.

With Tove with Love, Efva pays tribute to Tove Jansson—author, artist, and creator of the Moomins. The piece is an homage to a strong woman of great integrity, who never shied away from her convictions. Tove leaves behind a life’s work that continues to touch generations.

A clear statement with a gaze towards the future. “The future is female. Our hope.” A message that carries the idea of female strength and hope, at a time when it is needed more than ever. Wear a glimmer of hope—that the future is female. >>
