Efva's specialty is playing around with words and expressions. This gives another dimension to the jewelry, 'As I used to write lyrics I still want to move people with words. I call my design "Beauty with a Thought", she says.
Ab Imo Péctore
”Ab imo pectore” means ”from the bottom of my heart” and was often used as a greeting by Julius Caesar in ancient Rome. To me, this is a declaration of love to someone you hold dear.
”The love for our destiny” in Latin. I found this expression in a book by psychoanalyst Rollo May and it struck me that this is the way I feel about life. I have been given this life and it is up to me to make the best of it.
Amor Vincit Omnia
”Love conquers all”. Love is the most powerful force there is. If you follow your heart you will have the strength to change your life. But it often starts with loving yourself. This is true. Believe me, I know.
In collaboration with the Swedish Red Cross, I created this necklace after the Tsunami disaster of 2004. All proceeds go to the Red Cross. My inspiration was children dressed as angels. They are wearing angel wings. In the tsunami, so many children lost their lives. Hence the thought of angels.
”Sic itur ad astra” means ”the way to the stars” in Latin. You can do more than you think. Always aim high, since nothing is impossible. Reach for the stars.
Breathe & Exhale
Breathe in. Breathe out. In with the good, out with the bad. Fill your lungs and oxygenate your blood. Lower your stress levels with a deep breath.
In these times of stress and constant focus on the future, it is more important than ever to ”seize the day”. You never know what tomorrow will bring. Why put things off until tomorrow when you can live and enjoy today?
Like the moving onyx in the silver, you are the dancing queen...
We are all our own person with our own dreams, vision, and expressions. Who can define normal and who are we to judge...
Divorced With Children
Two silver rings held together by a smaller ring in 18k gold. A symbol for a relationship that didn’t last but that brought something beautiful – the children – the gold.
Freedom & Fortune
The anchor stands for hope and a longing for freedom. The black onyx tells a tale of happiness, fortune, and luck.
From Here to Eternity
The blockbuster from the fifties, ”From here to eternity”, went down in history with the iconic scene of Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr kissing by the water. Love, sun, salt and sexy ! What could be more romantic than this message of love that stretches for an eternity?
Like a fantasy image of Genie in the bottle, rub the jewelry and your wishes will come true.
Sometimes we are very close to each other but at other times we are worlds apart. A split heart that shows that even if we drift apart we can find our way back again. Setbacks can make us stronger.
Heart to Heart
A wedding ring with a setting formed by two hearts and a diamond in between. A symbol of the strength of two hearts beating as one.
”The knowing man” in Latin. I divided the word and put each half on both sides of the dog tag. What I want to say is that all human beings are equal. Wear the piece with pride, close to your heart.
When we feel lost, hope is there to give us power and strength again. It is the last thing to leave our side. We all need hope.
I strive to be a good person. To respect and be respected. Respect is a human right and obligation. Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.
A reversible piece with the words ”Imagine” on one side and ”Peace” on the other. The piece is a homage to John Lennon and his song ”Imagine”. In a collaboration with Yoko Ono, this jewelry will raise money for Doctors Without Borders.
The Swedish word for ‘love’.
The inspiration for Lifeline came when I sat at my mother’s sickbed and held her hand. I thought about our unique fingerprints and the life our mothers give us. Lifeline is a homage to all mothers.
Playful design that is mobile. The name Loopiloop is from an old 1960’s song by Ray Charles that I loved to dance to. And still do.
The number eight is a sign of happiness and prosperity in Asia.
Make Love not War
This message of love is written in braille. There’s a contrast between the hard elements of a military badge
with a peaceful message.
I found the expression ”memento vivere” in the book ”Loving Frank” by Nancy Horan. An amazing love story about Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick Cheney. When Mamah visits the Swedish author Ellen Key’s house, she sees a sign over her door that says ”Memento Vivere”. Remember to live.
In these times of always being online and available, stop, pause, and remember to enjoy life’s everyday moments. I believe we only have one life and it’s happening right now.
Me, Myself and I
A piece of jewelry that is about you. Take time to breath and do the things you keep putting off. Strengthen
yourself and find your path in life. Have the courage to change and be changed.
At the start of my music career back in the 80’s, I wrote the song “Miss Butterfly”. The lyrics were about love and how precious it is. You shouldn’t hold on too tight because it might fly away, just like a butterfly.
A thought of someone. This can be worn as a mourning jewelry. We all have someone we lost or someone we miss, whom we carry with us in our thoughts. This was a hard task for me to design, and it took me two years to find the shape. It’s like two hands coming together in an Asian way and there’s a place to engrave someone’s name on the other side.
That man has set foot on the moon is real evidence that nothing is impossible.
A globe with the important message that we need to take care of this earth. ”Feel the earth trembling, you and I listen to the heart of Tellus. Mother earth is calling us to take care of her”.
Now or Never
Long lasting love or an impulsive crush. Maybe you met someone years ago and are now discovering that you’re right for each other. Maybe you met yesterday. It is now or never.
The classic expression ”I have a dream” was coined by Martin Luther King in 1963. To me, peace is still high up on my wishlist.
The power of the hidden diamond. One knows it’s there but it’s shown only when the owner wants it to be seen.
Pencez de Moy
I found this expression, ”pencez de moy”, which means ”think of me”, engraved in a 14th century French ring at the National Museum in Stockholm. It is a precious gift to have someone thinking of you.
Without fear. Do it. You don’t want to regret that you never did it.
When my son, Simon, was eleven, he created a playful cross made of brass in my studio. That inspired me to make this piece. I was also eleven when I made my first piece of jewelry. I suppose you could call it a family trait.
A piece that urges you to stand up for you opinions, thoughts and emotions. To be brave enough to stand by your word. To have a spine.
My inspiration from Brazilian amulettes more common with madonnas. I made it my way for boosting yourself.
Time Will Come (Tiden Kommer)
In the western world, we say that time is passing and we are stressed out by the fact that time is slipping away. In the East, the expression ”time will come” gives a more relaxed and peaceful way to consider time. You can’t force it. It gives us a more calm, positive outlook on time. Think about that for a second.
Two of Us
I had a hit song in the 80‘s with my band, X Models. It was a ballad called ”Två av oss” and I wrote the music and the lyrics. It was about love and how we fit together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.
One ring is square and one is round, like two people with unique personalities that complement each other and become a stronger unit.
