Efva’s specialty is playing around with words and expressions. This gives you one more dimension to the jewellery. ‘And as I used to write lyrics I still want to move people with words. I call my design “Beauty with a Thought”.
Ab Imo Péctore
”Ab imo péctore” means ”from the bottom of my heart” and was often used as a greeting phrase by Julius Caesar in Ancient Rome. To me, this is a declaration of love to someone you hold dear.
Amor Fati
”The love for our destiny” in Latin. I found this expression in a book by pshycho analyst Rollo May and it hit me that this is the way I feel about life. I have been given this life and it is up to me to make the best of it. We can’t blame anyone else in any direction. It is up to you, you’re in charge. It’s your life.
Amor Vincit Omnia
”Love conquers all”. Love is the the post powerful force there is and as long as you are with the one you love you can do anything. This is true, believe me, I know.
Angels
In collaboration with the Red Cross, Efva created this necklace after the Tsunami disaster of 2004. All proceeds go to the Red Cross.
- The idea of children dressing up as angels wearing angel wings. In the tsunami, so many children lost their lives, hence the thought of angels.
Astra
”Sic itur ad astra” means ”the way to the stars” in Latin. You can do more than you think. Always aim high, nothing is impossibe. Reach for the stars.
Breathe
Breathe in. Breathe out. In with the good, out with the bad. Fill your lungs, oxygenate your blood. Lower your stress level with a deep breath. A yoga inspired piece of jewellery.
Carpe Diem
In these times of stress and constantly focusing on the future, it is more important than ever to ”seize the day”. You never know what tomorrow will bring. Why put things off until tomorrow when you can live and enjoy today?
Divorced With Children
Two silver rings held together by a third, smaller ring in 18k gold. A symbol for a relationship that didn’t last but that brought something beautiful – the children – the gold.
From Here to Eternity
The blockbuster from the fifties, ”From here to eternity”, went down in history with the iconic scen of Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr kissing by the water. Love, sun, sex and salty! What could me more romantic than this message of love that stretches for an eternity?
Genie
When I designed this fantasy shape it resembled the genie in the bottle. Rub the jewellery and your wishes will come true!
Heart Apart
Sometimes we are so close to each other but sometimes we are worlds apart. A split heart that shows that even if we drift apart we can find our way back again. That setbacks can make us stronger.
Heart to Heart
A wedding ring where the setting is formed as two hearts with a diamond in between. A symbol of the strength of two hearts beating as one.
Homo Sapiens
”The Knowing Man” in latin.I divided the word and put each half on both sides of the dog tag. What I want to say is that all human beings are equal. Wear the piece with pride close to your heart.
Hope
We all need hope. When we feel lost, hope is there to give us power and strength again. It is the last thing to leave our side.
Human
I strive to be a good person. To respect and be respected. Respect is a human right and obligation. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Imagine
A reversible piece with the word ”Imagine” on one side and ”Peace” on the other. The piece is an homage to John Lennon and his song ”Imagine”. ”Imagine all the people, living a life in peace”- John Lennon
Lifeline
The inspiration for Lifeline is this life we have been given that is far too short. When I sat at my mother’s sickbed and held her hand, I thought about our fingerprints and how they are life that was given by our mothers. Lifeline is an homage to my own mother, a fingerprint molded in silver.
Loopiloop
Playful design that is mobile. The name Loopiloop is from an old 1960’s pop song that I loved to dance to. And still do.
Lucky
The number eight is a sign of happiness and prosperity in Asia. A lucky charm to wear around your neck.
Make Love not War
A message of love written in embossed printing. The contrast of the hard element of military badges with peaceful message. Blind for the seeing. Humour mixed with seriousness.
Memento Vivere
I found the expression ”memento vivere” in the book ”Loving Frank” by Nancy Horan. An amazingly gripping lovestory about the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick Cheney. When Mamah visits the Swedish author Ellen Key’s house there is a sign over her door that says ”Memento Vivere”. Remember to live. In these times of always being online and available, stop, pause and remember to enjoy life in every day moments. We only have one life and it’s happening right now.
Me, Myself and I
A piece of jewellery that is about you. To have your time to breathe, to do the things you keep putting off. To strengthen yourself and find your path in life. To have the courage to change and be changed.
Miss Butterfly
Back in the 80´s at the start of my music career, I wrote the song “Miss Butterfly”. It was one of my first songs and the lyrics were about love (of course) and how precious it is. When love strikes it’s a gift and you shouldn’t hold on too tight because it might fly away, just like a butterfly.
Moonwalk
The inspiration for Moonwalk is taken from the moon and its flowing landscape and craters. That man has set foot on the moon is really evidence that nothing is impossible. And of course a thought goes to the master of the moonwalkdance, Michael Jackson.
Mother Earth
A globe with the important message that we need to take care of this earth. With all that is happening to our planet, environmental destruction, natural disasters and climate changes, it is now more important than ever to stop and think. Feel the earth trembling, you and I listen to the heart of Tellus. Mother earth is calling us to take care of her.
Now or Never
Long lasting love or an impulsive crush. Maybe you met someone years ago and are now discovering that you’re right for each other. Maybe you met yesterday. You feel that it is now or never.
Peace
The classic expression ”I have a dream” was said by Martin Luther King in 1963 when he spoke in front of 200 000 people about equality, peace and freedom in Washington DC. To me, peace is still high up on my wish list.
Pencez de Moy
I found this expression, ”pencez de moy”, which means "think of me", engraved in a French 14th century ring at the National Museum in Stockholm. It is a precious gift to have someone thinking of you.
Simon Cross
My son Simon created a playful cross made of brass in my atelier when he was eleven that inspired this piece.
Spine
A piece that urges you to stand up for you opinions, thoughts and emotions. To be brave enough to stand by your word. To have a spine.
Time Will Come (Tiden Kommer)
In the western world we say that time is passing and we are stressed out by the fact that time is slipping away. In the east, the expression ”time will come” gives a more relaxed and peaceful way to consider time. You can’t force it. It gives a more calm, positive outlook on time. Think about that for a second.
Two of Us
I had a hit song in the 80’s with the ballad ”Två av oss” for which I’d written music and lyrics. ” There are only two of us, and that is us”.
Twosome
Two people with unique personalities that complement each other and become one, stronger unit.
Wild at Heart
Age is nothing but a number. I hope to be wild at heart and open to new things until the day I draw my last breath. That I am wild at heart just like my father.
