Beauty with a thought

Efva's specialty is playing around with words and expressions. This gives another dimension to the jewelry, 'As I used to write lyrics I still want to move people with words. I call my design "Beauty with a Thought", she says.

Amor FatiAmor Fati
“The love for our destiny” in Latin. I found this expression in a book by psychoanalyst Rollo May and it  struck me that this is the way I feel about life. I have been given this life and it is up to me to make the best of it.

Amor Vincit Omnia
“Love conquers all”. Love is the most powerful force there is. If you follow your heart you will have the strength to change your life. But it often starts with loving yourself. This is true. Believe me, I know.

Angels
In collaboration with the Swedish Red Cross, I created this necklace after the Tsunami disaster of 2004. All proceeds go to the Red Cross. My inspiration was children dressed as angels. They are wearing angel wings. In the tsunami, so many children lost their lives. Hence the thought of angels.

Sometimes we are very close to each other but at other times we are worlds apart. A split heart that shows that even if we drift apart we can find our way back again. Setbacks can make us stronger.

Heart to Heart
A wedding ring with a setting formed by two hearts and a diamond in between. A symbol of the strength of two hearts beating as one.

Homo Sapiens
“The knowing man” in Latin. I divided the word and put each half on both sides of the dog tag. What I want to say is that all human beings are equal. Wear the piece with pride, close to your heart.

Hooked On Simone
“Inspired by the expressive singer Nina Simone and the generous jewelries she wore!”

Hope
When we feel lost, hope is there to give us power and strength again. It is the last thing to leave our side. We all need hope.

with a peaceful message.

Memento Vivere
I found the expression ”memento vivere” in the book ”Loving Frank” by Nancy Horan. An amazing love story about Frank Lloyd Wright and Mamah Borthwick Cheney. When Mamah visits the Swedish author Ellen Key’s house, she sees a sign over her door that says ”Memento Vivere”. Remember to live.
In these times of always being online and available, stop, pause, and remember to enjoy life’s everyday moments. I believe we only have one life and it’s happening right now.

Me, Myself and I
A piece of jewelry that is about you. Take time to breath and do the things you keep putting off. Strengthen
yourself and find your path in life. Have the courage to change and be changed.

Miss Butterfly
Back in the 80’s at the start of my music career, I wrote the song ’Miss Butterfly’. It was one of my first songs and the lyrics were about love (of course).

Miss You
A thought of someone. This can be worn as a mourning jewelry. We all have someone we lost or someone we miss, whom we carry with us in our thoughts. This was a hard task for me to design, and it took me two years to find the shape. It’s like two hands coming together in an Asian way and there’s a place to engrave someone’s name on the other side.

Moonwalk
That man has set foot on the moon is real evidence that nothing is impossible.

Mother Earth
A globe with the important message that we need to take care of this earth. ”Feel the earth trembling, you and I listen to the heart of Tellus. Mother earth is calling us to take care of her”.

Opposites Attract
“The difference is the attraction.”

P+
“P+, a proton, is a neutron full of energy.”

Passion Cuffs
“Strong. Beautiful. Playful. Sexy.”

Peace
The classic expression ”I have a dream” was coined by Martin Luther King in 1963. To me, peace is still high up on my wishlist.

Peek-a-boo
The power of the hidden diamond. One knows it’s there but it’s shown only when the owner wants it to be seen.

Pencez de Moy
I found this expression, ”pencez de moy”, which means ”think of me”, engraved in a 14th century French ring at the National Museum in Stockholm. It is a precious gift to have someone thinking of you.

Pennies From Heaven
“During the 70’s when I was a model in Paris, king Yves Saint Laurent ruled. Influenced by that time I created these simple memory coins.”

Rainbow Freedom
“You can try to take away my colors, but you can never take away my pride.”

“‘Won’t you wear my ring around your neck’ – sparkles just like Elvis sang.”

Roots
“With this silver collection, Efva returns to where she started, to her 'Roots' - I sat in my studio and worked on a new collection. That’s how it started. For the blacksmiths from time immemorial and for me. Hammer, heat, shape, hammer, file, hammer, heat, shape.”

Rose Petals
“My fantastic rose ‘Blue moon’ has been growing in my garden for over 15 years. My Rose Petal jewelry in silver or gold will last forever...”

Sans Peur
Without fear. Do it. You don’t want to regret that you never did it.

Seashell
“Ocean treasures. Like Pippi Longstocking I’m always treasure hunting. I found this beautiful shell on a beach one morning. I kept it a long time and now I’ve captured it’s shape and made it in sterling silver.”

Shape Of A Dream
“For the release of my ring ”Two of Us”, based on my hit song from 1981 with the same title, I asked my friend Björn Ulvaeus of ABBA for help with translation of the lyrics. It was important for me to keep the same feeling and spirit of the original lyrics and Björn got back to me with brand new lyrics and a new title - Shape of a Dream. I found myself facing the challenge of creating a piece of jewelry that matched the new title, Shape of a Dream. And I ended up designing a completely new jewelry line with diamonds and white gold that included earrings, a ring, and a necklace for galas, formal parties, and weddings. Who’d have guessed that Björn would end up working with jewelry? “I take great pride in the fact that my name is mentioned in combination with Shape of a Dream” says Björn Ulvaeus.”

Silver Coin
“A solid silver coin with a band over it, as simple as that!”

Simon Cross
When my son, Simon, was eleven, he created a playful cross made of brass in my studio. That inspired me to make this piece. I was also eleven when I made my first piece of jewelry. I suppose you could call it a family trait.

Sleeping Beauty
“When I travel and take a walk, I always see ‘The flower of the day’ or ‘Morning Glory’ as it is also known. The Latin name is Ipomoea tricolor. This plant can be seen in Sweden and in many other places across the globe. As it sleeps at night and opens itself to the daylight, I call it Sleeping Beauty.”

Spine
A piece that urges you to stand up for you opinions, thoughts and emotions. To be brave enough to stand by your word. To have a spine.

Swinging Love Beads
“With the silver feeling from the 60’s and a design that always feels classic and timeless. Let the cabochon cut stones swing and the colors playfully be reflected by the light.”

Symbols
My inspiration from Brazilian amulettes more common with madonnas. I made it my way for boosting yourself.

Take No Shit
“My thought with the ‘Take no shit’ message is to give strength, to get courage to stand up for yourself, not to be offended.”

Tears
“No sad tears - only happy tears.”

Thin
“Simplicity is not an easy task.”

Time Will Come (Tiden Kommer)
In the western world, we say that time is passing and we are stressed out by the fact that time is slipping away. In the East, the expression ”time will come” gives a more relaxed and peaceful way to consider time. You can’t force it. It gives us a more calm, positive outlook on time. Think about that for a second.

Two of Us
I had a hit song in the 80‘s with my band, X Models. It was a ballad called ”Två av oss” and I wrote the music and the lyrics. It was about love and how we fit together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.

Twosome
One ring is square and one is round, like two people with unique personalities that complement each other and become a stronger unit.

Viking
“This way the vikings started to design their jewelry. Twisted forged silver, gold or iron. I have interpreted our Scandinavian roots in my own way with the collection Vikings.”

Wild at Heart
Age is nothing but a number. I hope to be wild at heart and open to new things until the day I draw my last breath.

Yes & No Cufflinks
Is this a yes or is this a no? Your signal to your surroundings.

You&Me
“You and I are linked together by love.”

Ziggy
“In the 70’s I had a quite intimate dance with David Bowie, he was a great dancer! The Ziggy collection is a reminder of a fantastic artist with an edge. And also what a clever and inspiring person Mr Bowie still is.”
